Part of Fox Translations’ series on Managed Linguistic Operations
Fox Translations recently completed a pilot project for a Canadian international enterprise developing highly specialized products. The project demonstrates how translation can meet an immediate requirement while creating reusable assets for future documentation and international growth.
The project included:
- translation of a highly technical product manual;
- creation of a bilingual project glossary;
- development of a corresponding language style guide; and
- establishment of a living translation memory that can grow with future projects.
Working with the client and our project language lead, Fox standardized terminology for this specialized content domain and documented important language decisions. The style guide also established practical writing and translation guidelines for future manuals and related materials.
Together, these resources give the client more than a translated document. As the company develops additional products within this line, the glossary, style guide and translation memory can be reused and expanded supporting greater consistency, faster delivery and continuity between projects.
This pilot is a practical example of Fox Translations’ evolution toward Managed Linguistic Operations. Expert human translation remains at the centre of our work, while terminology, language standards and multilingual knowledge are managed across projects rather than recreated for every assignment.
The immediate result is a professionally translated technical manual supported by its own lexicon and style guide. The longer-term result is a reusable linguistic foundation for future products, documentation and international markets.
That is how we believe translation should increasingly work: every project should leave the client with stronger linguistic assets than it had before.
This pilot demonstrates how Fox Translations is expanding its traditional translation services through Managed Linguistic Operations. Expert human translation remains at the centre of our work, strengthened by terminology management, language standards and reusable linguistic assets that support clients across future projects.
